"Data Recovery Using World Class Clean Room Facilities to Ensure Data Integrity and Security"

Hard Disk Recovery

In order to prevent contamination and further damage to your hard disk, a physically damaged hard disk drive should only ever be opened in a controlled clean room environment. Without the use of a certified clean room facility, contamination of hard disks can occur where foreign particles or debris such as dust, clothing fibres, hair and skin can rest on the media surface. If the disk were later put into operation, these particles can make contact with the hard disk heads, potentially resulting in a head crash which can cause irreparable damage to the platter surface and subsequently, the loss of data. Also if the magnetic media on the hard disk is exposed to ‘normal’ air for prolonged time periods this will result in the oxidation of the media surface, the first stage of deterioration which will lead to data loss.

Situated at The Australian Data Management Centre in Technology Park, SpectrumData Recovery has one of only several on site certified clean room facilities for data recovery purposes in Australia. Our clean room has been certified ISO Class 5 (equivalent to AUS STD 3.5 and US STD 100). As a standard for clean rooms used for data recovery purposes; an ISO Class 5 standard clean room stipulates that less than one hundred half micron particles can be present in one cubic foot over the span of one Clean Roomminute.

Our purpose built clean room facility is constructed from a steel frame with anti-static vinyl walls. The room use uses in-built lighting and positive air pressure to generate a continuous flow of clean air using a number of HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters. The environment inside is also temperature and humidity controlled to ensure that the risk of static and media contamination is minimised as much as possible. The floor of the clean room also utilises 2KV anti-static flooring.

All of SpectrumData Recovery’s technicians working in the clean room facility wear non-linting coveralls, hoods, boots and gloves. The boots and gloves utilised also have anti-static properties as an added precautionary measure.

Physical data recovery should only be performed by companies which offer the use of certified clean room facilities. To ensure the recovery of your vital data, contact the SpectrumData Recovery team.
