When preparing any type of hardware for shipping, it is very important that you package it carefully to ensure that further damage is not incurred during transit. In order to ensure the safe delivery and maximise potential for data recovery, SpectrumData Recovery recommends the following guidelines are followed:
- Firstly, if you have the original packaging materials it is best use them. If not:
- Remove the hard disk drive from the computer or laptop. If you do not know how to do this, one of our data recovery technicians will be more than happy to go through the steps with you over the telephone. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring the machine into our data recovery facility and we will remove it for you. Please note that to maximise the potential for recovery, all hard disks, even those physically damaged, should be treated with the utmost care.
- Place the hard disk drive or memory device in an anti-static bag, failing that wrap the media in anti-static material.
- Then wrap the package in bubble wrap, foam or any type of packaging material which will provide dampening and protection reduce the risk of damage due to vibrations, shock or debris during transit.
- It should then be placed in a box or container twice the size of the device – a corrugated cardboard carton is ideal. Then pack the box with enough foam/bubble wrap to ensure that it cannot freely move at all during transit.
- Ensure the package is clearly labelled as “FRAGILE”
- Ensure the package is clearly addressed to SpectrumData Recovery as follows:

14 Brodie Hall Drive
Technology Park

- Finally don’t forget to include your business card or personal details along with a completed SpectrumData Recovery service request form.
- SpectrumData Recovery will contact you on receipt of the shipment at our premises to confirm its arrival and to discuss your requirements for the data recovery.
